Five video projections onto five pieces of 3′ x 10′ glass.
New Museum, New York City, 2001
Five panes of glass are the same size as the windows in my studio in WTC 2001, as part of a LMCC residency.
Video is projected on each piece of glass of different perspectives seen from the windows. The work refers to the memory of the experience of looking out the windows, a view that is now gone. The lo-tech aesthetic of the video projections refers to the process of memory. The images look faded from the original footage, the way our memory fades over time.
The glass reflects the viewer in it when standing in front of the work, to include them in this meditation of the past juxtaposed with the present.
